Things
Here are ideas I turned into things.
Daily Games & Puzzles
A fresh set each day.
Palette
My mom asked for a game like Wordle, but with colors or numbers. What I made is secretly a trivia game hiding behind a color palette with a cryptic clue.
Fuse
A friend had the idea for a game about building one long chain of words. I built it as a daily puzzle, and I am still not sure they actually wanted me to.
Bend
What does a Toby game look like? In college I made tic-tac-toe work on other surfaces, so I wondered if solitaire Scrabble would work on a Klein bottle. It does.
Gambit
I wondered how to put a twist on Boggle and themed it around chess. You still trace words through a grid of letters, but every step moves like a chess piece.
Tråd
I teach Swedish, so Fuse needed a Swedish version. The core mechanic is the same, but the language is not, so Tråd is built a little differently.
Vrid
Bend’s Swedish twin, made for the same reason as Tråd. The core mechanic is the same, but word games behave differently in another language.
Everything else
The Birthday Paradox
I love statistics and probability, and how unintuitive they are. Put 23 people in a room and it is more likely than not that two of them share a birthday.
The St. Petersburg Paradox
On paper this coin game has an infinite expected payout. But in the real world, where nobody can bet infinite sums, nobody would pay much to play it.
Fishing Scout
I asked an AI which lakes near me had channel catfish. It could not answer from the survey data, so I built an app that could.
Svenska Skolan
An introduction to Swedish for English-speaking preteens, teens and families, built from material I have used in my own classes.
Customer & Employee Portal
Someone asked for a customer portal. I inherited it with zero users and no roadmap, and saw it through to hundreds of weekly users.
Music
Every year since 2011 I have kept a playlist of favorites. This wall holds all fifteen, striped by the languages each year was sung in.
