Bend is a word game on the surface of a Klein bottle. The board wraps in an unusual way: moving right past the last column continues on the mirror row — row 1 joins row 5, row 2 joins row 4, and row 3 joins itself — and moving down past the bottom wraps to the top of the same column. Move around the board with the arrow keys; because the board is a Klein bottle the arrows follow the wrap, so at an edge you may jump to a different row or column. Press Enter or Space on a rack tile to pick it up, then Enter on a board square to place it, or Enter on a tile you just placed to take it back. Activate the Submit button to score. A word that wraps top to bottom scores double; a word that bends across the flip seam scores triple; you cannot score the same word twice, but reforming it across a seam upgrades it.
The home board tiled by its neighbours. Left, right and corner copies are drawn vertically mirrored — that’s the flip. Read a word straight across into a mirrored copy and it’s the same word that jumps to the mirror row at home.
bend is Scrabble on a Klein bottle. The 5×5 grid wraps — but not like an ordinary board.
- Sides glue with a flip. Off the right of row 0 you arrive at the left of row 4; row 1↔row 3; row 2 joins itself. A word can bend onto its mirror row and keep going — across words reach 9 letters.
- Top & bottom wrap straight, like a cylinder. Columns are plain loops.
- Tap a tile, tap a cell, build a word in one row or column. Every run of 2+ letters you make — seam-crossers and cross-words included — must be a real word, or the move is refused.
- New words flash green and score their letter values. A word that wraps top–bottom scores ×2; one that bends across the flip scores ×3. You can’t score a word twice — but reforming it with a bigger multiplier upgrades it (gold flash).
- Fill a whole loop and it counts if any rotation is a word — that’s how RE + RUN → RERUN scores across the middle row. A full board is the grail.
- Trash a tile. Every 20 points earns one trash — pick a rack tile, then trash, to bin it and draw a fresh one from the bag.
